The Parliamentary Commission established for investigating the
privatization of the Energy Distribution Operator to the Czech Company
“CEZ”, has gathered this Monday, with its Chairman, Taulant Balla,
requesting authorities to bring Nuel Kalaj by force, since he is
suspected as an mediator between the government and the Czech Group.
Balla showed messages exchanged between Kalaj and the Czech CEZ representatives in Albania and Prague. He said the messages need to be translated, and no political party should defend the witness.
Balla says the e-mails which mention former PM Berisha and his son, Shkelzen, show CEZ was favored with the selection criteria.
Ridvan Bode, Parliament Member of the opposition and part of this commission, appealed Chairman Balla to not rush to conclusions, without hearing the persons involved in this case.
After Balla accused that the CEZ involvement changed the bad-loan level in Albania’s disfavor, Bode answered by saying that the bad loan of the company has reached today 25%, a level much higher than before, which, according to Bode, was 10% and not 14%, as mentioned by Balla.
