For the last two years, the 15-year-old Mirjan Krosi has been obliged to
walk with the help of crutches, due to hemophilia. His right hand has
suffered hematomas by wounds taken during the years, creating
articulations in the knee.
Xhevahire, the mother of the 15-year-old, says that Mirjan has not been taking the basic medicament for treating his disease, and the Tirana Hospital Center doctors have confirmed that they have received no supply of Factor 8.
“I went to Tirana and they said that there is no medicine. My son is getting worse. What should I do?”, declared the teenager’s mother.
Mirela Xhafa, a doctor at the pediatric hospital, who has followed the treatment of the 15-year-old, explained that his invalidity was a result of the absence of regular medicament.
“The absence of medicine has given irreparable damages. Maybe the operation is one of the main alternatives, besides the medication”, Xhafa declared.
Currently the Tirana Hospital University Center has not completed yet the tender for purchasing Factor 8 and Factor 9 for hemophilia. The only solution for the patients were the donations given by the World Federation of Hemophilia, which is expected to bring a large quantity of factors that will serve to treat 400 patients.
