The Tirana Municipality started paving with ballast the roads in the
Tirana areas that suffered a severe flooding three weeks ago.
The vice Mayor, Eno Bozdo, explained that they have opened the canals and provided drinking water for the residents.
“We have started paving the roads so that we can turn them in a better state than before the flood. During these three weeks, it was our priority to clean the mud that reached 1.8 mters in some areas. More than 450 agents are working to return the normal water supply in all flooded areas and for cleaning the sewerage waters. After this phase is over, we will start paving more than 87 roads and alleys with ballast”, Bozdo declared.
The vice Mayor accused the government of not answering to the municipality’s request for heavy vehicles that could help deepening the riverbed.
“This area needs an emergent intervention, especially in the areas where the water has narrowed down the riverbed. We hope that within a few days we will start the works for a total recovery of the Tirana river. What we asked the central government, and for which they haven’t answered, is using some equipments that could deepen the Tirana river”, Bozdo declared.
700 residences in the Tirana suburbs got flooded three weeks ago after heavy rains.
