The agreement signed between the Interior Minister and Prosecutor General was considered by the two parties of the opposition, the Democratic Party and the Socialist Movement for Integration, as anti-constitutional. But the Interior Ministry considers these reactions as senseless, adding that the opposition has distorted the details.
“This is not the first or the only effort for deepening the cooperation between institutions in the fight against organized crime. When a crime is organized, it gets sophisticated and acts without bureaucratic barriers. In these conditions, law-enforcing state agencies cannot have the luxury to fight separately. The agreement was made public because it guarantees and respects the authority of the Prosecution for conducting investigations. The agreement puts all capacities of the police to the service of the Prosecution”, says the Interior Ministry.
The declaration adds that the representatives of the opposition distorted the details of the agreement, claiming that there were laws which were violated. On the contrary, this agreement is signed within the current laws, for the fight against crime”, the Ministry says.
