Interior Minister Fatmir Xhafaj received a delegation from the EU,
headed by Eduart Auer, Chief of the Western Balkan division, accompanied
by other high-level officials from Brussels and the EU ambassador to
Tirana, Romana Vlahutin.
Both parties discussed about fighting against cannabis plantation, against organized crime, and about increasing the professionalism of the State Police. They also underlined cooperation with other law-enforcing agencies, especially the Prosecution.
The Interior Minister presented the priorities of his duty, and what is to be expected from it. The EU representatives valued the National Action Plan against cannabis cultivation and greeted the reaction of the authorities against the Kurbin Police, where several officers were punished after a parcel with narcotics was discovered in the area.
