The Albanian Minister of Interior, Fatmir Xhafaj, spoke for the first time after the arrest of Orest Sota, who was caught with 863.000 Euros and two boat driving licenses of Saimir Tahiri in his car.
“Can you make a comment about the fact that police hid the Elbasan scandal?”, asked the Democratic Party MP, Flamur Noka.
“I have tasked the Internal Inspection Service to investigate about the responsibilities and get conclusions regarding the responsibilities of the police officers in this routine task. I want to make known the fact that everything that happened has been registered according to our legal procedures”, declared the Interior Minister, Fatmir Xhafaj.
The debates at the National Security Commission continued about the crime situation. The opposition noted that the Chief of Police, Haki Cako, was not present at the meeting.
“Mr.Minister, please take measures to dismiss the General Chief of Police, because he is the main responsible for this bad management”, said Endrit Brahimllari, MP of the Socialist Movement for Integration.
“I cannot dismiss the Chief of Police just because a political force has some concerns”, Xhafaj declared.
The opposition MPs left the meeting without voting the budget for the Interior Ministry.
