Although our country and the region don’t seem to have problems with
extremism, Albania and the region are not immune to this threat.

The Interior Minister, Saimir Tahiri, asked for a coordination between the civil society, local and religious communities, and state structures to prevent the expansion of extremism, which, according to him, is a constant threat.

“No one is immune to the danger of extremism. Albania doesn’t seem to have problems with violent extremism, and it looks like our region is only exporting foreign fighters, but the premises for extremism to turn into a real problem is really present”, Tahiri declared.

“Terrorism can be fought with education and economic growth, which are very efficient weapon against any extremist force around the globe’”.

The Minister of Interior released this declaration by the end of the first day of works in the Regional Ministerial Against Terrorism, in a joint conference with the Deputy Secretary for State Security, Sarah Sewall.
