For the past 15 days, the State Police has started implementing a plan
for patrolling the maritime border through Quick Intervention Forces and
Delta Forces, with the purpose to prevent traffic of narcotics.

The order of the Chief of Police was implemented throughout the country. Top Channel followed closely a patrolling at the Kepi i Rodonit area, where there has been increased activity in the past months, after attempts for trafficking cannabis through the Adriatic.

270 police forces are holding similar patrols in Patok, Seman, Rradhima, Zvernec, Saranda, Himara and Borsh. The special forces are using thermal cameras during the night for monitoring the situation.

Besides monitoring the coastline, a special attention was paid to uncovering other cases through border checkpoints.

Traffickers hide drugs in special modified places, on various vehicles, mainly trucks but also private cars. Italian authorities say that only a small quantity of cannabis has been able to go through the Durres Port during the past 10 months.
