Klajda Gjosha, Minister of European Integration, reported at the
Parliamentary Commission of Integration about the steps taken so far in
coordinating and implementing the Action Plan coming from five European
Commission recommendations.
One of them is fight against corruption.
“One of this government’s priorities is planning an anti-corruption strategy and consolidating the coordinating structures. Hence, we are focusing on these measures. Very soon we will assess the current evaluations for anti-corruption, including the risk evaluation. In a short time we will supply statistics and a track record that has been asked by the Commission for all corruptive acts in all levels, including open criminal cases and convictions”, Gjosha declared.
“I hope that this Ministry will keep leading for the integration coordination process, and that it can be completely functional. You have a series of obligations as regards the corruption action plan. I see a series of measures which are more declarations than concrete measures”, declared Majlinda Bregu, chairwoman of the Parliamentary Commission for Integration.
Parliament Member Taulant Balla asked Minister Gjosha to make transparency for the Albanian citizens, since the Supreme State Audit has planned a report for the activity of this ministry in the past.
“The Supreme State Audit most recent report has several findings that need to be addressed urgently. The Ministry of Integration pays almost 80 million ALL for those who have been fired until 2013. There is also a colossal payment of 400 million ALL for hiring a foreign lobbying company. This agreement was proposed by the Minister of Integration and was approved by Prime Minister Sali Berisha. It must be part of the public transparency, so that we can see how the tax money of the Albanian people have been spent”, Balla declared.
“I would add that besides what Mr.Balla said, you should try and be personally and politically dedicated to your staff, rather than throwing mud over the work done by the Ministry of Integration and the documents that have monitored its work. All lobbying agreements are signed according to the Public Procurement Law. The Minister of Integration has been part of it, but never gave money from the Ministry because the procedures continued through the Prime Ministry. There is no evasion in the Podesta agreement, from all taxes, as it has happened with the agreement that we discussed here last week”, Bregu declared.
