The National Council for European Integration, an institution
established recently by the Parliament, gathered for the first time this
Tuesday under the direction of the Democratic Party MP, Majlinda Bregu.
The Foreign Minister, Ditmir Bushati, was summoned to give information regarding the preparations and stances that Albania will unfold in the Vienna meeting by the end of August.
The Vienna meeting is the second phase of what the government calls “The Berlin Process”, started one year ago as a meeting between the leaders of the region to discuss cooperation bridges and cooperation with concrete projects in infrastructure, energy, tourism, education and other areas.
Minister Bushati said there are four main areas in which Albania will request support with projects in the Vienna meeting.
“First, with the road infrastructure. Secondly, the energy infrastructure process. Thirdly, human capitals, education and tourism”, he added.
The Albanian Foreign Minister considered the establishing of the Western Balkan Fund as an achievement. He said it will aim including all regional countries that will help with planning and funding the projects.
The Chairwoman of this Council, Majlinda Bregu, said that the Berlin Process does not replace the EU integration process. That’s why, she said, you cannot access the EU with love, but with reforms.
