The US Deputy Secretary of State, William Burns encouraged the
implementation of the reforms in Albania and supported the country’s EU
integration.
During his meeting with the Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha in New York, Burns expressed his desire for visiting Albania. The US high rank official has appriciated Albania’s contribution in Afghanistan and other efforts in the war against terrorism.
During this conversation, Berisha emphasized the significance of implementing the electoral reform through consensus and positive will, in accordance with the OSCE-ODIHR recommendations, and the Majority’s readiness to start the reform together with the opposition.
