The Institution of Statistics reported that business sales in the first
trimester increased with 1.7 compared to the same period of one year
ago.
INSTAT says that most of it is due to higher billing from industry, commerce and services.
The increased turnover for the industry was 3.8%, in commerce 3.9^, and in services 4% more than the first trimester of the past year.
The construction businesses are still facing difficult times, with 4.9% less than the last year, while for transportation it was 36.2% less than the last year.
This is an orienting indicator for the economic progress. The increased bills from business is a positive signal for consumption and circulation of goods in our economy, which is supported by the data of trade exchanges.
According to INSTAT, the import of goods incresaed with 8.6%, after dropping for two years. But these tendencies are still to be confirmed.
INSTAT will publish in the next week the economic growth for the first trimester. The government and the IMF say that the national GDP will grow this year with 2.1%, which would change the dropping trend that started two years ago, when the economy plunged into the second phase of quick slowdown.
