The Institution of Statistics declared that the economy grew with 2.82%
for the first trimester of 2015, as compared to the same period of the
last year. According to INSTAT, this is the highest growth that the
economy has marked in the first trimester since 2011.

According to Gjergj Filipi, Director of Instat, fishing and forestation have increased with 1.85%; industry, energy and water increased with 7.64%, construction 2.84%, and the trade-hotel-restaurant-transportation 1.18%.

INSTAT says that despite the fact that family consumption has dropped, the economy has enlarged due to more private investments. The government has had a neutral contribute in the GDP.

“The final consumption of the population, which is the main burden of the expense in economy for the first trimester of 2015, has dropped with 1.22% compared to the first trimester of 2014. The final consumption of the government in the first trimester of 2015 drops with 0.01%. The component of gross fixed capital formation increased by 14.9% compared with the first quarter a year ago. Exports of goods and services rose by 1:49%”said INSTAT.

The 2.82% growth in the first trimester is a surprise, since the IMF and the Ministry of Finances declared that the economy has slowed down. For this reason, the government corrected the economic growth from 3% to 2.7%. But the Bank of Albania declared it might change again if the Greek crisis gets worse.
