The Ministry of Agriculture has ordered the National Food Authority to
test samples of dairy products and analyze them at the Veterinary Safety
Institution.
The Ministry warns operators and merchants to write the accurate composition of their products. If cheese will have starch in it, it will show in the tests. This will force sellers write the composition of their product.
The Ministry explains that this is not about health risks, and starch is not banned anywhere in the European Union or the United States of America. The Minister says that this is for not letting consumers get lied to about the product components. This should also be reflected in prices, with products of high levels of starch having a lower price that cheese produced with milk at 100%. The Ministry of Agriculture warns that they will be harsh with producers or merchants who lie the consumers.
