The Mayor of Tirana, Erion veliaj, attended the “Tirana Business Matching” event with the topic “Challenges for increasing investments and Albania’s competition ability”.
Veliaj said they are working intensively to turn Tirana’s economic area into reality, which will make it easier for businesses to create new jobs.
“Very soon we are going to apply for getting the free economic area status in Kashar. I know that for many businesses which have decided to transfer to Albania, the challenge for negotiating property and assets is a real headache. With the new legal dispositions that will allow the Municipality to be an operator of free economic areas, we are going to reach the application phase pretty soon”, Veliaj declared.
The Mayor of Tirana specified that the economic area will be extended in 60 hectares. “We have identified the terrain. There are more than 60 hectares which will be ready for businesses”, he said.
The new boulevard is another major project, conceived as a development area. Veliaj said that the biggest changes that has happened today, is that now, the Tirana municipality thinks and plans projects by calculating their entire economic impact.
“We are building the infrastructure first, and then we will be open for investments in what I trust will be the face of a Euroepan Tirana, and a fantastic project. We are going to start the race for building 20 new schools with the Public-Private-Partnership system. As for soft loans, the Tirana municipality has started procedures for 1000 soft loans, to make it easier for couples that buy their first homes in Tirana”, the Mayor declared.
Veliaj underlined that for the first time, Tirana has an area that has already been equipped with the entire infrastructure, and also with a proper development plan which will turn into the leading economic area for the next generations.
