Albanian health authorities said today that 159 new tests have been carried out in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of tests carried out to 457.
So far, 33 positive cases with COVID-19 have been confirmed, of which 8 are hospitalized in the Infectious Diseases Hospital of Tirana and 25 cases are self-isolated in good state at home.
Of the confirmed positive cases, 19 are in Tirana, 5 in Durres, 5 in Lushnje, 2 in Elbasan, 4 in Fier, 2 in Rrogozhina.
After testing the first sample of 50 doctors and nurses at the Durres hospital which proved to be negative, the authorities have continued to track contacts, receive and test new samples of medical staff at the Durres Regional Hospital.
Based on the results from the second batch of samples, out of 39 samples of physicians, nurses and patients, only 1 physician was found positive, but he has no symptoms and is currently self-isolated and is being further investigated. A total of 89 tests were performed at the Durres hospital.
Of the total number of people affected by COVID-19, 25 are self-isolated in good health and 177 self-quarantined.
