The recent increase in the price of bread has caused outrage with the citizens.
According to flour importers, the price of bread has increased by 10 to 20 Lekë due to the “change in the price of wheat on the stock exchange”.
But according to the Small and Medium Business Association, the increase in the price of bread was made by flour importers, in order for them to earn more.
Albania is ranked as one of the poorest countries in Europe.
Eurostat agency reports that the prices of bread and cereals in Albania were as much as 70% of the average of the European Union, therefore in Albania bread is bought dozens of times more than European citizens do.
Albanians do not go to the theater, sports, do not spend on clothes, not because they do not want to, but because they do not have money.
“We have no money for food let alone entertainment. I spend all my pension only on food. I have worked for 40 years and never once I have spent on myself “, says an elderly citizen.
