Albanian justice authorities said that they are getting ready to have more penitents and associates of justice, therefore the harsh regime of imprisonment in unit 313 in Tirana has been closed, to adapt to the place where the collaborators of justice will be kept.

An official source informed Top Channel that after the closure of ’41 biss’ in Tirana, only one similar regime located in the high security prison in Peqin will continue to function.

The capacity of Peqin’s ’41 biss’ regime is 40 prisoners, while all the cells of 41 biss in the capital have been turned into the ‘prison of collaborators of justice’. In the premises of the building that was initially promoted for “people of organized crime who gave orders from their cells”, the arrested persons who have the status of repentant and who have spoken or are speaking on behalf of the investigations led by the SPAK special prosecutor’s office, have been moved.

This change, according to the same sources, was made to guarantee the absolute safety of the penitents’ lives and at the same time efficient and immediate transportation. Since prison building 313 in Tirana is connected to the Special Court by an underground tunnel, this element is considered a necessary measure.

At the moment, eight justice witnesses are kept in the penitentiary prison, while 3 others are kept in another prison. The harsh regime is a copy of the Italian model, created during the time when the Ministry of Justice was headed by Etilda Gjoni, with strict rules for almost 200 prisoners.
