Incapable doctors will be fired

A system with credit points for their progress has been going on for the past five years, inviting them in scientific conferences inside and outside Albania.

The Health Minister gave a harsh declaration today, saying that those who do not complete the credit points by the end of the year will be suspended from their duties and their licenses will be removed.

“I regret to say that today we have professionals without any credit, or with an insufficient number of credits, based on the standards that have been set. Those who dont prove that they try to update their knowledge will not be allowed to work as doctors. Doctors who ignore this request will have zero cerdits by the end of the year, and the measures will be effective with the beginning of the new year. Their jobs will be declared vacant by the institution leader. The professional orders will also suspend their licenses”, the Minister warned.

On the other hand, Beqaj asked hospital leaders to plan special funds for training and trips of doctors who are part of foreign scientific conferences.

“Since we are at the budget phase, you need to program the next year, within your budgets, with training funds that can guarantee minimal travel spending of doctors abroad”, the Minister added.

The Physicians Order say that there are 850 doctors with 0 credits, who have not been part of any conference, while others have not completed the 150 points in these five years.
