Merita Meksi, coordinator of the GIZ project, declared: “We might have
many floods, despite the fewer precipitations. There will be
consequences in the energy sector, because there will be fewer energy
resources. Temperature will be higher this year, especially in Tirana”.

Experts at the Geoscience Institution foresaw the Vjosa floods a few days in advance. Klodian Zajmi declared: “The floods were foreseen four days ahead and all respective institutions were notified”.

Mrs.Meksi says that in the case of Vjosa, the warning was not taken in consideration. If it would have been taken in consideration, the financial consequences would have been lower.

The Ministry of Environment, in cooperation with the German Federal Government, is working for drafting a national plan of adoption to the climate changes. Experts want every ministry to take these changes in consideration, so that all measures can be taken on the right time.

Laureta Dibra, environment expert, underlines: “These extreme weather conditions will affect the main sectors of economy. Every investment must take in consideration the climate changes”.

The floods and long droughts will cause huge damage in agriculture, economy, tourism and energy, and that is why investments require well detailed plans beforehand.
