The private universities that didn’t lose their licenses and that have
not been suspended, have received some measures from the rectorate after
the inspection. They value the initiative of the Ministry of Education
as a necessary process that was realized on time for improving the
private higher education.
“I greet the process. It is a long, open and transparent process from the Ministry of Education, for implementing the legality control. The Ministry of Education has given three measures for the European University of Tirana, and we decided in a meeting with the senate to fulfill these measures that are about the completion of the students’ files, the recognition of diploma, permits from the employers for the engagement of part time professors, etc”, declared prof.dr.Tonin Gjuraj, Chairman of the Academic Senate at the European University of Tirana.
“This is the right time and moment for the higher education reform and for controlling the legality. It is important for the higher education institutions in Albania to be able to answer to the challenges they face, that’s why is needed a modernization of the management of the education system, of their curricula and infrastructure. One of the specialties of the Epoka university is the international dimension, so that students can find jobs even in the international market”, declared Remzi Altin, Rector of the Epoka University.
The private universities are ready to welcome students from the other universities that were closed due to the violations.
“As it was underlined by the Ministry of Education, we will help these students and will accommodate them, based on the instructions of the Ministry. We established some criteria and deadlines that the students should complete”, Gjuraj declared.
“We are ready to welcome students from the closed universities, but we also have our admission criteria. The students must have a good English level and an average high-school grade of 8. For students coming from other universities, the minimal should be seven, and then they will undergo the respective commissions”, Altin declared.
