The anti-tobacco law has been approved in Parliament and after it will
be published on the Official Bulletin, the bar owners are expected to
take measures.
The Health Authorities say that the law will finally be implemented and no one will be tolerated. The Deputy Minister of Health, Klodian Rrjepaj, underlines that they have improved everything in which the previous law failed.
“If we give the message that the law is equal to everyone, then everyone will implement it. We are focusing on the points in which the previous law has failed. We will have an inspecting troop that will be on terrain all the time. This gives more chances that the law will be respected, together with the fact that the fine is divided in some levels, one part of it goes for the business, one for the administrator and one for the individual”, Rrjepaj declared.
With the amends, the fines have increased to 300.000 ALL for the business and the administrator, while the client will be fined with 5000 ALL.
According to Deputy Minister Rrjepaj, every fine will be collected because it is an executive order. Besides the taxable subjects, the individual will also be unable to avoid it. If he will not have an identity card with him, the police will take him under custody.
“This law will be implemented in cooperation with the state police. People who will have the identity card with them will be fined. After being identified, the fine will be kept from their salaries. If they’re retired, from their pensions”, Rrjepaj declared.
The fine will also have the account number where the money can be paid. Inspectors will also be monitored, since years ago they turned this into a business of their own, receiving bribes rather than giving fines.
