The International Monitoring Operation for the Vetting law, part of the
judiciary reform, said that only 67 applicants are eligible. The IMO
sent the list with new recommendations to Ombudsman Igli Totozani.
“17 out of 84 candidates received a negative recommendation from the IMO. 109 candidates in total did not fulfill the criteria. 70 of them received a negative recommendation, 70 others didn’t receive a negative recommendation. As result, 67 applicants are adequate for the final list, ready to be reviewed by the Parliament”, the IMO announcement says.
IMO has made up its team of international observers, made of high-level members of foreign judiciary systems, from USA and EU countries.
“Now it is up to the Albanian Parliament to appoint the members of the vetting institutions, so that the implementation of the vetting process can start without further delays. IMO hopes that the process will start soon, in order to answer to the expectancies of the Albanian citizens, for an impartial, accountable and professional judiciary”, the announcement says.
