An Albanian immigrant in Belgium, desperate that his working permit had
been revoked, and disappointed by the Albanian Embassy, has shot himself
live on camera. Thankfully, the bullet has not affected any of his
vital organs.
The unusual story was brought by Top Channel’s “Fiks Fare”, which was contacted by the citizen, Petrit Ndoci, two days ago.
The immigrant said on his phone call that he had been working as an immigrant in Antwerp, Belgium, for the past 25 years.
In 2011 he had been arrested on sexual abuse charges, sentenced in 2012 with 16 months in prison, but he claims he was innocent, and that it had been a trap, set by another person for 10.000 Euros.
However, he says he served the sixteen months of prison and went back to his life. But on march 8th, 2017, when he was hospitalized, he learned that he wasn’t covered by the Social Insurance.
He learned at the municipality that he had been unregistered, since he was considered a highly dangerous individual. In these conditions, he went to a lawyer who kept his case suspended for two years.
At this point, he asked the Albanian Embassy for help, but he wasn’t offered a solution. Ndoci says he expected the Embassy to support him, but he was disappointed.
Desperate, he says that he doesn’t want his dignity to be violated. “I don’t want Belgian documents. I can’t stand to be treated as a dangerous individual after having worked here for 25 years. I feel bad for my Belgian daughter. I don’t know how this happened”, he says with Fiks Fare’s journalists, warning that Thursday would be the last day for him.
This morning (Thursday), he called Top Channel’s “Fiks Fare” telling them he was about to commit suicide. Fiks Fare’s journalists pleaded him for more time to contact with the Albanian Embassy in Belgium, but during a video call, the citizen had a gun in his hand.
In this video call, he tells Fiks Fare journalists that he had called the police and told them he was committing suicide. Some officers are seen some minutes later, but the camera is thrown and a gunshot is heard.
After some efforts, Fiks Fare communicated with Ndoci again. He had shot himself, without hitting any vital organ. He was about to enter the operation room, guarded by officers. Top Channel’s “Fiks Fare” will continue to follow his unusual case.
