The Prosecution of Serious Crimes concluded the investigations for nine
people accused of recruiting Albanians for sending them to fight to
Syria. They are all charged with terrorist acts, funding terrorism,
encouraging and making public appeals and propaganda for terror acts and
for encouraging hate on religious grounds.
The Prosecution claims that Genci Balla, Bujar Hysa, Gert Pashja, Fadil Muslimani, Orion Reci, Edmond Balla, Astrit Tola, Verdi Morava and Zeqir Imeri, have exploited the religious convictions of some citizens to make them travel to Syria and get involved in groups declared as terrorist by the UN.
The Prosecution says that Genci Balla and Bujar Hysa have been self-declared imams and have preached that the fight in Syria was for a right cause and on behalf of Allah. They were both leading mosques without the approval of the Muslim Community.
The Prosecution says that both imams, in cooperation with Fadil Myslimanin, Orion Recin and Verdi Moraven, have found a place to organize the mosque and everything else.
Gerti Pashja was in Turkey, where he received those who were traveling from Albania to Turkey, in cooperation with Astrit Tola and Zeqir Imeri.
The Prosecution says that Genci Balla is one of the radical religious leaders who encourages violence and hate between faiths. He encourages division between the Muslim community and inspires the organization of Jihad from Albania to Syria.
Pashja is considered by the Prosecution as a fanatic follower of Balla. He also made propaganda for Juhad. The Mezes imam, Bujar Hysa, is also seen as a radical islamic element who preached against the recognition of the Albanian laws and institutions.
