Imami: “No Ministry inspection allowed”

12/07/2012 00:00

The Minister of Defense, Arben Imami, declared that the opposition MPs
will not be allowed to inspect the Ministry. He compared it with the
employee inspection of the communist era.

The opposition keeps accusing him of arms traffic and for the usage of the Secret Service for illegal interceptions.

Gramoz Ruçi: For more than three weeks, the Parliamentary Commission has not been allowed to make a civil inspection on the Ministry of Defense, after some important issues, such as the traffic of arms and the illegal wire tapping of the opposition and foreign diplomats. You must intervene urgently, because this is a violation of the Parliament of a NATO member country, and the Ministry of a NATO member country, and a country that aspires to integrate to the EU, is illegally intercepting the foreign diplomats and is making illegal arms traffic. As opposition, we are here to make our Parliamentary role. The Parliament Speaker must expert all the constitutional and parliamentary attributes for making the Ministers to complete their duty.

Ministri Imami: The Parliamentary Inspection is one of the pillars of this Parliament and no one must think to evade it. But there will be no inspection of the employees by any opposition or majority in Albania. Albania is a democratic country, where procedure prevails. The Parliamentary Commission has exerted its duty constantly, and I have respected it in full availability by reporting the entire problematic. I have also answered to all the questions raised by the Socialist group and all the Socialist members of this Commission. But the inspection can be realized only through procedures and decisions. Some MPs, maybe even from the Democratic Party, might want tomorrow to start an inspection inside a Ministry and this is anti-constitutional. The accusations for illegal wire taps are childish. I invite the opposition to find the legal means and they are welcomed to make any question for any element. There is a serious and final solution that should be taken in this country. We must establish a special sub-commission within the Commission of Security, with three or four personalities that have worked in this area and who must vow that they will keep the state secrets. They can inspect everything that the Ministry of Defense has.
