The IFC government, hired as a consultant, sent a letter to the Minister of Infrastructure, Edmond Haxhinasot, telling him that of three scenarios, the Berisha government had chosen the one with a 9 EUR toll fee.
According to the same letter, the government failed to place the fee in 2011.
But the former Prime Minister, Sali Berisha, said that he refused to impose the fee.
“In 2011, my government and the now late Minister of Transportation, Sokol Olldashi, studied the option for fees. But we didn’t place that tax. Not because I was blocked. The study wsa right there. I was oriented about the average maintenance cost and I refused. I and the Minister agreed that the road would have no fee. We decided that because of Kosovo as well”, Berisha said in Parliament.
