Two days before the deadline for paying the electricity by pardoning 80%
of the delay fines, a situation has been created that would have been
unbelievable a few years ago.
People who haven’t paid electricity for years, now are staying in queues by pushing each other. This is taking place in Korce, where the payment has always been in good levels.
In other cities the situation s even worse. In Shkoder there are people who are selling their spots on the queue. However, the authorities are not responding to the pressure of the people.
This has made citizens in Korce to protest in silence in front of the Energy Distribution Operator, with a simple request: “I want to pay energy”.
Consumers say that time is running out and the work in the payment polls is very slow.
The authorities have not taken any decision for increasing the number of workers for receiving payments, and have not answered to the prefect of Shkoder, who asked for one other month, so that everyone can pay.
