The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, declared that thanks to the first
year of the hunting moratorium, the fauna in the Karavasta Lagoon and
other areas of the country is undergoing a recovery process.
“Even smart foxes had been unable to escape from these barbarians. They have killed more than 30% of their population. We found the wild fauna population in a critical minimum, to the point of finding it hard to call that population ‘wild’ and the other ones ‘domesticated’”, Rama declared.
This area that could have been populated with tourists, has been populated with hunters who have to postpone their hunting dreams for some other time. For this reason, the Prime Minister invited citizens to see the process as closely tied to the economy of the country, the potential for developing natural tourism.
Minister Koka declared that beyond skepticism, after the first year of the moratorium, the situation has changed.
“The result is spectacular and I think this is one of the best works done by the Albanian government”, Lefter Koka declared.
Present in this activity was the US Ambassador, Donald Lu.
“I am very happy that we will not have to talk about politics today, but for such an important topic, for the protection of wild animals. This moratorium is a fine impressive example for how the government works with the local residents and protects the echo-system”, Lu declared.
The Moratorium was established for 2 years, but the parties seem to have agreed to postpone it.
