The Hungarian Foreign Minister, Péter Szijjártó, said that his country will treat the request of Macedonia’s former Prime Minister as a legal, not political matter.
Szijjártó was in a press conference with Kosovo’s Foreign Minister, Behgjet Pacolli, when he declared that the authorities will treat this matter based on international law.
The former Prime Minister of Macedonia, Nikola Gruevski, escaped from his country as the Court was issuing an arrest order. He was sentenced to two years in prison over power abuse.
His escape has spurred many debates. Serbian media say that he escaped through Tirana. Skopje authorities said that he could have let with a Bulgarian passport, which Sofia has denied. Albanian police say that no person called Nikola Gruevski has crossed the border.
The Hungarian embassy in Tirana refused to give comments for undergoing matters.
