The new government has started working for supplying medicine and other
urgent equipments that the hospital needs, such as glucoses, alcohol and
syringes at the Tirana University Hospital Center.
Health Minister Ilir Beqja declared that they are working to make the Cobaltotherapy operational again. Beqja says that the debt of the hospital is more than 30 million USD, 22 of which only from the Tirana University Hospital Center.
“We have worked intensively from day one to enable the supply of medicaments and other vital materials. We had a problem in the supply with serums, which was resolved yesterday. The director has made use of the agreement to serve with all important examinations that are made at the cardiology”, Beqja declared.
The Health Minister and the TUHC Director, Orgeta Manastirliu, have undertaken an initiative for removing all non-medical activities from the hospital territory, even those businesses that have just renewed agreements.
“Starting from today, all non-medical activities will be closed in the hospital territory, because the hospital has had a development master plan for years. The territory of the hospital is very important. We are starting it from the entrance, with those that have no agreement. We have notified also those who have an agreement to close their business activities within a few days”, Beqja declared.
The Hospital director underlined that this is a problem that needs to be resolved, because the traffic created within the hospital affects the quality of service to patients.
“We have decided to return these spaces to the public, in function of our patients. This is the first step towards the improvement of our service”, Manastirliu declared.
