Baptism of the Savior is a holy day in the calendar of Christian rituals.
Orthodox devotees have followed the rituals of this holy day. Ceremonies in Korca were held at the Cathedral, in presence of President Ilir Meta, who received the blessing of the Metropolitan of Korca, Johan Pelushi.
The ceremony with the cross in the water was held at one of Korca’s promenade, which was attended by the President as well.
Due to a large number of devotees lighting up candles, there was a fire inside the Cathedral which was taken under control by firefighters.
Orthodox churches throughout the country have celebrated the holy water day. In Durres, the cross was caught by Alban Gjokmarkaj.
A similar ceremony was held in Gjirokastra as well.
In Berat, the cross was thrown inside the Osum River and was caught by Xhoxhi Naco.
In Vlora, father Constandin Prifti gave a special message for all Albanians.
