The Albanians must realize the reforms for themselves, not for the foreigners. This is what the German ambassador to Tirana recommended today during a visit in the town of Gjirokaster.
She also answered to the questions of the journalists about the progress achieved by Albania with their EU candidate status ambition.
“I can say that there has been progress. The new Electoral Code passed at the Parliament while the government and the opposition are discussing about reducing and lifting the immunity for politicians and high rank officials. There are discussions for the reformation of legal institutions and the judiciary system. There are a lot of reforms that are being discussed and we hope that they will be realized. I think that for us, but mostly for the Albanians, it is important to perfect the judiciary system. This would improve the quality of law implementation and the relations between the Albanians, as well as the relations between the institutions and national and foreign businesses. My impression is that the Albanians think a lot about foreigners, but you must forget u and make the reforms for yourselves. Create a more comprehensive society in a more stable and secure environment for the Albanian institutions and your business, and you will receive the candidate status immediately”, declared the German Ambassador, Carola Muller Holtekemper.
The German Ambassador is monitoring the implementation of some project financed by German funds in some southern districts, which have more impact in the service support of the people in need.
