The German Ambassador to Tirana, Helmut Hoffman, declared that the
asylum seekers from Western Balkan will be returned within four weeks.
“We have built tents in Germany for asylum seekers from Western Balkan. Our objective is to verify their procedures within four weeks and return them home. It is clear that everyone who cannot receive asylum will return. I hope that this information will spread through Albania, even in the deepest villages. It is very important to speak openly about this topic in Albania, because there will be a much bigger problem even for Albania with these people going away”, Hoffman declared.
Considering this phenomenon as very concerning for Germany and the EU, Ambassador Hoffman said that the immigration of Western Balkan citizens to Germany is becoming dramatic each day. 65.000 people have applied from Albania, Kosovo, Macedonia and Serbia in the first six months of this year only. 5932 people from Albania only in June.
“It would mean 70.000 Albanians in one year. There are Albanians with good jobs in Albania who are leaving to Germany. It is very important for the Albanian and German sides to work closely”, Hofman declared.
“The acceleration of the interviewing procedures of the Albanian asylum seekers was confirmed by the Deputy Minister of Interior, Elona Gjebrea.
