Residents of Libofsha in the southwest of Albania appealed today for help against the fires that have engulfed the cultivated hills of the area, while the flames have damaged several houses in the area.
“We are in danger, the houses are burning but the olive trees gone. Houses have also been burned, the fire is getting closer. The cows are inside, it’s a shame to burn them”, residents told the media.
Meanwhile, the strong wind is favoring the flames that are spreading rapidly.
Although firefighters are on the ground along with residents and volunteers , the situation is out of control as the wind blowing from the south helps spread the flames.
“About 500 olive trees were burned”, says one of the locals.
The residents of the village appeal for intervention from the air to put out the fire as the situation is getting worse, as can be seen from the images.
