Highest security during Dritan Dajti’s trial

A few days after the Court of Serious Crimes publicly requested support
from police and specialized institutions in the trial against Dritan
Dajti, the Judge Panel decided to continue the trial behind closed
doors.

This decision will stay in power until the trial will be over, according to the press office of the Serious Crimes. Different from any other session, when journalists and relatives of Dajti were allowed to follow the trials, no one will be present in the room starting from this Tuesday.

Only the judges, the Prosecution and the defendant will be present in the room. The decision comes after a surprise request from the Prosecution of Serious Crimes for holding the trial in presence of other parties, but now not even the Court’s security forces will be allowed inside.

The Prosecution argued their request by saying that they want to preserve the dignity and the image of the Court, since in a previous session, the defendant presented photos of one relative of the judge together with one of his relatives. With this photo he requested the judge to resign.

Right after this session, the Court of Serious Crimes considered Dajti’s action as blackmail and threat. The Tirana Police didn’t allow anyone to enter the Court and the premises were inspected with anti-explosive dogs.
