Higher prices in January
10/02/2014 00:00
This January, retail prices were 1.7% higher than the same period of one year ago.
The Institution of Statistics announced that the inflation has mostly been affected by food prices, which have increased with 2.6% compared to one year ago.
Tobacco and gas have also increased with 12.7 and 3.5-3.9%, all caused by the tax increase. Prices in other groups have kept falling.
The 1.7% inflation still remains, regardless of the legal objective of the Central Bank, reflecting the difficult situation of the economy and the consumption crisis.
