Food prices rose with 5.9% this November, compared to one year ago. The
Institution of Statistics reported that the annual inflation reached
2.1%.
INSTAT says that vegetables had the highest price increase, with 35.6% compared to one year ago. Fruits with 13.9%.
Data show that the living cost has increased with 2.3%, but inflation was lower, since prices have dropped for other products.
INSTAT says that clothes and shoes had the biggest price drop, together with energy, rents and transportation prices.
The higher price in alimentary products and lower price for other services tends to hit poor families most, which pay only for food with their revenues.
The World Bank says that the spending for food takes 70% of the monthly revenues. Higher prices means that these families do not profit from the lower price in other products.
