Higher education reforms

Professor Arjan Gjoncaj declared that the funding of public universities will be based on criteria set by a board that is selected by the Senate and is approved by the Ministry of Education.

“The financial autonomy will work so that these institutions can use it as they like, but by the end of the year we will measure the usage of these funds through quality indicators. If the criteria are met, the funding will continue. Otherwise, there will be sanctions”, Gjoncaj declared.

The establishing of this agency will develop scientific researches, and the agency that will admit students in universities will give a new breath to the quality of universities.

“There are two main agencies, scientific research and university admissions. The first one needs money and the second one inspects the new admissions. The state standard removes abuses”, Gjoncaj declared.

Prof.Myftar Barbullushi, part of the reform commission for higher education, declared that they will end moonlighting from professors.

Part time tuition will continue, but through a new method. The first draft for the higher education was opposed by some of the professors.

Pollo: Rama didn’t give a vision for education

“Propositions are minimal, will be rejected in public debates”

The Democratic Party declared that Prime Minister Edi Rama has no vision for the higher education reform, but just a hate speech against the staff of professors.

The Chairman of the Parliamentary Commission for the Media and Education, Genc Pollo, declared that the propositions were minimal and that they would be rejected in public debates.

“The hate speech Rama uses against everyone is unacceptable, but the novelty is that after one year, Rama did not try to leave this speech behind. As for the propositions, they are minimal, negative and monopolistic, going only where the money circulates. These concepts will be discredited during public debates”, Pollo declared.
