The Democratic Party colors covered Tropoja two hours before the meeting
that returned to this town the Albanian Prime Minister, Sali Berisha,
after a very long time.
The National Guard officers were as much in numbers as the Democratic Party flags around the town.
The entire area was under surveillance by dozens of security members, most in plain clothes.
Other officers were also observing the situation from the terraces around the town. Everything seemed well planned from the moment that Berisha’s escort entered the meeting area.
Many Tropoja citizens who tried to break the police cordon and meet what they considered as their son, were stopped by the guards who had surrounded the Prime Minister.
Returned after several years in his place of origin, Berisha introduced the candidates for the area and appealed his supporters to vote him.
This area has been isolated for a long time and remains among the poorest in our country, with a high emigration and immigration rate. Berisha promised economic development, new jobs and modern infrastructure that will bring the tourism of this area ahead.
After the meeting, although Berisha went straight to the vehicle that would move him to the next destination, the crowd did not disperse.
Many followed the motorcade up to the hotel where Berisha stopped for a few meetings, saying that they wanted to meet him.
