Heroin dealers remain in prison, court rules

A court decided to keep in prison Eduart Gjata and Fadil Bami, arrested some days ago for narcotic sales – they were found with 5.1 kg of heroin – and illegal possession of firearms.

On Tuesday afternoon, Tirana Police disclosed details of the “Summer2016” operation that was concluded with the seizure of the drug quantity and the arrest of Gjata and Bami, while two other man were listed wanted by police.

They were being followed by special operations officers for at least two months, while in cooperation with the Prosecution Office of Tirana their criminal activity was documented. Investigations showed that Eduart Gjata and Fadil Bami worked together in selling drugs, mainly heroin, in the north-west area of the city known as “New Ring”.

They were than arrested while performing a selling operation in one of the bars of the area, and police discovered 10 plastic bags of narcotics, allegedly heroin, with an approximate value of half a million euros. Police also raided Fadil Bami’s apartment where they found and seized a machine gun and a Volkswagen car.
