Helicopters are needed against fires

Recent fires in forest areas showed once again how difficult it is for
authorities to put them out. In these conditions, the government was
forced to hire a private helicopter.
The Chief of Civilian Emergencies, Shemsi Prenci, said for Top Channel that it is now time for Albania to have its own fleet against fires.
“The Ministry of Defense has helicopter and the capacities to help, but they don’t have the operation kit that fights forest fires. Albania must invest and create a fleet for fires”, Prenci said.
Another problem is the cooperation between institutions.
“The Ministry of Environment has never been present. I have contacted them and I have never seen their employees being involved. The Shkoder Municipality did not contact me at all”, Prenci said, appealing for deeper investigations since they have found fireworks in Shengjin, which means that the fire was intentional.
