Albania was affected this afternoon by the storm that engulfed southern Europe and that caused great damage in neighboring Italy.
Due to the worsening weather conditions in the port of Vlora and outside it, the navigation of small and fishing vessels has been suspended.
While international shipping vessels will continue to operate normally according to the authorities.
Two people have lost their lives in two different accidents in the country. A 29-year-old man died as a result of a road accident in Fier, southwest of Albania.
While on the Morinë-Milot highway in the northeast, the driver of a “Volkswagen” vehicle lost control, colliding with the side barriers. As a result, he died at the scene, while injured remained a passenger.
Bad weather may have contributed to the loss of control in both cases, however an accident investigation is pending.
The entire territory of the municipality of Shkodër in the northwest, since this morning, has been affected by bad weather with heavy rain and strong winds.
During the morning, as a result of strong winds, trees fell in some areas of the city, causing material damage. In the Shale Administrative Unit, the road axis Medjlysaj – Theth has been blocked, while there have been landslides on the “Theth-Bregu i Lumit-Shalë-Shkodër” road axis.
Shkodër municipality teams are on the ground to manage situations that may arise during the following hours.
The adverse weather is expected to continue tomorrow as well.
