Health Minister: “Doctors leaving our country is a concern. Higher payment and bonuses”

However, the Minister says, the situation improved by restarting the specialization program, which had been frozen for three years, and by improving the Criminal Code which used to sentence doctors to prison for any type of mistake.

“The first results show that the health system is in a more favorable position. Doctors have not perceived it yet, but this year there are 650 new doctors who will continue with their specializations”, Beqaj said.

Difference of salaries with developed countries is one of the main reasons doctors leave for other countries. The Health Minister said their salaries will be increased this March 1st by 10%, while their bonuses have doubled.

The Health Minister declared that the government has invested in infrastructure during these three years, to improve the working conditions of doctors through equipment and medical supply.
