The head of the Albanian special anti-corruption prosecution SPAK, Altin Dumani, warned today of new surprises in the corruption files, mentioning the former national electricity operator CEZ – Dia as a priority, another one against the former president Meta, which he considered recommended by foreign bodies, including Americans.
But what was the news this fall, Chief Prosecutor Dumani confirmed that special prosecutors have registered the denunciation of the political group “Nisma Thurje” and have launched investigations into abuses with Albanian farmers’ funds from the European Union from 2014-2020.
Since the escape of the former deputy prime minister, wanted for corruption, Arben Ahmehaj, the head of the SPAK prosecutor’s office admitted that there is no concrete data available on the whereabouts of the former official.
Dumani considered the conviction of ex-minister Koka and ex-MP Alqi Blako a victory in this case, but admitted that he is reflecting on the position of the court that declared him innocent of some of the charges. The SPAK prosecution is also reflecting on two former ministers, that of Health and Finance, for whom an anti-corruption judge extended the criminal prosecution.
Chief Prosecutor Dumani said that SPAK can also overcome the Romanian justice system model, which through the Special Prosecutor’s Office brought charges against dozens of ministers and higher officials. However, for Dumani it is important to prove when the charges are raised.
Regarding elected official Fredi Beleri, handed over on charges of election corruption, Dumani considered that he was given every procedural right and guarantee in the proceedeings.
