As expected, the Albanian parliament discharged the vice chairman of the
High Council of Justice, Elvis Cefa, and member Lulzim Lelcaj. This
request was made at a report sent to the Parliament’s investigative and
parliamentary commission for this issue.
72 MPs voted in favor and one against, after a hidden vote was held.
Before the voting, MP Armando Subashi, chairman of this investigative commission, declared that they have reviewed huge amounts of materials, based on the law.
“The Parliament has the right to investigate the members of the High Council of Justice, and this is a right recognized by the Constitution”, Subashi declared, rejecting all claims of the opposition that the Parliament is damaging the independence of the HCJ.
