HCJ reacts for “Rama” case

For the High Council of Justice, The Minister of Justice, Nasip Naco,
also member of the HCJ, and the former Prosecutor General, Ina Rama, are
just individuals that do not represent any justice competences.

HCJ says that they heard about the “Rama” case from media declarations by individuals who were not happy from the will that the majority expressed with their vote, and that the HCJ decisions are never affected by politics. The announcement says that no political majority can impose the HCJ any decision making.

“The HCJ decided to reject the request of Mrs.Ina Rama since Mrs.Rama herself wanted to impose her will to the HCJ, but requesting it as the only alternative. Every judge or former judge who wants to exert his duty at a Court of Appeal, must undergo equal competition with the other candidates, same as with the council”, the declaration says.

In this reaction for the media, the HCJ underlines:

“To close any bad interpretation of the law, the HCJ clarifies that Mrs.Rama has never exploited their legal rights to request a return at the Court of Appeal for Serious Crimes, where she has worked as Judge before being elected PG. The Court of Appeal for Serious Criems is not equal to any other Court of Appeal as regards career, financial treatment, the right to defense and a series of other rights”, HCJ adds.

One day ago, the former Prosecutor General, Ina Rama, declared for Top Channel that the HCJ decision is political and not based on the law.

“Only political reasons. There is no legal argument to justify the pending of my request. The law clearly states that the Prosecutor General returns to his former duty as Court of Appeal, or in a similar duty. This issue has been suspended for one year. I addressed my request to the President and the Minister of Justice to include my case in the daily schedule. Only the Minister of Justice requested to include it”, Ina Rama declared.
