The High Judiciary Council started verifications for the verdict of the
Kavaja Court, which sentenced Fadil Kasemi to three years in prison,
after his first attempt against the life of his ex-wife, Fildez Hafizi.
The Inspectorate of the HCJ was put in motion by President Ilir Meta, who is still member of this council, until the establishing of the High Council of Justice.
The verdict in question is that of April 28th, 2016, the judge panel led by Luan Lusha, and composed by members Ela Kaja and Markelian Koco, left in power by the court of appeal and sent for a recourse at the Supreme Court.
President Meta demanded that the first meeting of the HCJ to focus on reports about procedures which should be followed by courts when issuing protection orders for domestic violence victims.
President Meta also appealed the Justice Ministry to exclude domestic violence from amnesty.
