The High Council of Justice has extended its investigations for the
scandal how seven suspects for 15 tons of seized cannabis, a
record-breaking quantity, were all released from prison after detained
in Drithas, Llakatund, this July.
Sources said for Top Channel that the HCJ wants to review all measures taken for the suspects at the Court of First Instance and the Court of Appeal.
Judge Arqile Basho will be inspected for releasing Rakip Arapaj, suspected for producing and hiding 5 tons of cannabis, while Judge Arbana Selmanaj will be verified for a previous arrest measure given to the suspect.
For this citizen, three judges of the Court of Appeal will also be verified: Klodiana Gjyzari, Hysen Saliko and Petrit Aliaj, who have left Arapj in prison, but this decision was reviewed later after a 1 million ALL guarantee issued by Judge Arqile Basho.
HCJ will review the security the security measures of Judge Elona Mihali, who issued an arrest order against Ervin Tushaj and Myzafer Tushaj, suspected of producing and hiding 9 tons of cannabis.
Same as with Arapaj, no convincing evidence were found to leave both of them in prison for 9 tons of cannabis found inside a depot belonging to a citizen who lives in Greece.
Judge Arbana Selmanaj will be verified for issuing a house arrest for Kudret Tushaj, with the argument that he is above 70 years of age, and suffers of health problems.
The 70-year-old was also arrested for 30 kilograms of cannabis that he had allegedly hidden with his son in a nearby building.
All homes used to house cannabis in Drithas were abandoned or with their owners living in Greece.
