The Albanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Foreign Affairs,
Edmond Haxhinasto, visited Strasbourg where he participated in the
Presidency handover ceremony of the Committee of Ministers, from Ukraine
to the Great Britain.
The press office of the Foreign Ministry says that the participation of the Minister Haxhinasto was in the quality of the next President, on May 2012.
Haxhinasto declared that 14 May 2012 will be a historic moment for Albania.
“As partners, we are ready to lead this family of 47 members. We are ready to undertake the responsibilities for fulfilling the strategic objectives and the interests of the Council of Europe”, Haxhinasto declared.
Haxhinasto held several meetings during this visit, including the British Foreign Secretary, William Hague. Referring to Kosovo, Haxhinasto asked the help of Britain for Kosovo’s membership in the EBRD, considering it as an act that would directly improve the life of their citizens.
Secretary Hague underlined that Britain is one of the biggest supporters of the Kosovo issue, adding that he frequently lobbies for increasing the number of countries that recognize it.
